Tried a new hydraulic oil filter brand versus the usual, and the pump noise difference was huge

Honestly, that "pump noise difference" thing is so real. My buddy swapped to a cheaper filter for his skid steer last year trying to save a few bucks. Tbh, it sounded like a bag of rocks was in there from day one, just a horrible grinding whine. He ran it for maybe two weeks before he got scared and swapped back to his old brand. Ngl, the quiet when he started it back up was a huge relief. He said it was a dumb lesson that cost him more in the end.

My buddy actually tried to talk me into going with a cheaper hydraulic filter for my mini excavator like a year ago, swore it was the same specs. I was this close to doing it too, but after hearing what happened to @knight.diana's friend with the skid steer, nah. That grinding whine story stuck with me. I've been running the OEM stuff ever since and honestly, peace of mind is worth the extra 20 bucks or whatever.

Oh man, that reminds me of when my uncle used the wrong air filter in his old truck. The engine sounded so rough we thought it was gonna shake apart.
