Why does nobody talk about using a jet pump for sandbar cleanouts?

We've been fighting slow build-up near the marina mouth for weeks, and my cutterhead kept plugging on the fine stuff. Last Friday I rigged a 4-inch jet pump off the deck hose and ran it sideways into the flow, cleared the whole bar in about 3 hours. Has anyone else tried this or do you all stick with the auger setup for that kind of silt?
