Always thought mudding was just mudding until I saw a guy use 20 minute hot mud on a ceiling joint

I watched this older drywaller finish a whole ceiling patch in under 40 minutes using quick set mud. He said the trick was mixing small batches and working fast. I found his video on a drywall channel out of Portland Oregon. Never realized hot mud could cut drying time by like 75 percent on repairs. Has anyone else switched over from regular compound on small jobs?

Ha, jokes on me I once tried hot mud on a ceiling patch without reading the bucket first. Let's just say I learned what panic mixing looks like in real time.

Wait is hot mud really that bad or were you just working too slow? I've used it a bunch and never had issues as long as I mix small batches.
