Wait, does mesh tape just not hold up on ceilings or is it more of a humidity thing? I learned the hard way with regular drywall tape last year when I tried to patch a bathroom ceiling and it peeled off after a month. Ended up using paper tape and it's been fine since, but now I'm wondering if mesh is the same kind of hassle.

Have you ever tried using mesh tape in a wet area? A buddy of mine patched his bathroom ceiling with it and it bubbled up in a few months, but paper tape has held fine for years since. I think it just doesn't bond as well with moisture compared to paper.
