Had to pick between lightweight compound and all-purpose for a ceiling repair

I went with the lightweight stuff cause I figured it'd be easier on my shoulders after a long week... but man, it shrunk way more than I expected on the second coat. Anybody else run into this or is it just me?

Wait, after sanding the lightweight stuff did you notice it felt softer than the all-purpose? I had the same shrinking issue on a repair and figured out I was putting it on too thick compared to what the label said. Did you check your batch number because some of the lightweight formulas cure different than others?

You using the premixed buckets or the powder stuff? I had the same shrink issue with the premixed lightweight. Had to do three thin coats instead of two to hide the tape lines.
