Lost a whole day because of a bad mud mix last Thursday

I was finishing a basement job in Sandy and the first batch of joint compound I mixed up had these weird hard lumps that kept tearing my paper tape. Had to stop everything, scrape off what I could, and drive 20 miles to get a fresh bag of dust. Has anyone else run into a bad batch of mud lately or was I just unlucky?

Big deal, right? Hard lumps happen sometimes - just scoop em out and move on. Losing a whole day over a little bit of bad dust seems a bit dramatic to me.

@sarah198 Yeah, because scooping lumps out of compound when you're trying to finish a basement is basically the same as finding a pebble in your cereal. Real smooth logic there. Next time I'll just strain my mud through a colander and see how that works out for me. Must be nice to have all that extra time to pick through a bag of defective dust while the homeowner watches the clock tick.
