Mud pan vs hawk for patch jobs, I finally picked one
I used to haul both to every small repair, but after a 3 day ceiling patch in Portland, I ditched the hawk. The pan lets me work one handed on a ladder and I'm not constantly scraping drips off the rim. Anyone else settle on a setup and never look back?

Man, I was team hawk for YEARS and swore nothing else made sense for small fixes. But you're right about the ladder thing, juggling a hawk while reaching overhead is a pain in the ass, and I finally got tired of wiping mud off my forearm every ten minutes. I only grab the pan now unless I'm doing a full coat on a big wall, and honestly I should've switched way sooner.
