My uncle told me to always wet sand a final skim coat, even on a small patch. Tried it on a repair in a Phoenix garage last week and the difference is real.

Yeah, that Phoenix dust is no joke. Dry sanding in that heat just bakes the compound and makes it gum up. A wet sponge and some 220 grit makes it so much easier to feather the edges. You can actually see the sheen change when it's right. Your uncle knows his stuff.

Man, my buddy learned that lesson the hard way.

Dry sanding just leaves those tiny scratches that catch the light. Wet sanding gets it glassy smooth, especially in that dry heat.
