The difference a new mud pan made on my last job was NIGHT and day
Switched from that cheap plastic pan to a stainless steel one last week and my taping went from fighting bubbly edges to butter smooth. Has anyone else noticed how much your tools change the finish on a 10-foot wall?

...and now I'm sitting here wondering why I didn't do this years ago. You know that angry little voice in your head that curses at the drywall mud for no good reason? Yeah, mine went from a full on shouting match to a calm, quiet conversation. The stainless steel pan just has this nice, stiff feel that lets the mud actually do what you want it to do. My first job with it I spent the first 10 minutes just staring at the finish trying to figure out what I'd done different. It's like the difference between eating soup with a fork and a spoon, you know?

Switching from plastic to stainless was the biggest game changer for me too. I used to fight with air bubbles and uneven edges on every joint until I made that swap. That extra stiffness and weight just lets the mud glide on so much smoother without fighting the tool. Did you notice a difference in how the mud sticks to the pan versus the plastic?
