Vent: Old timer at the supply house showed me something about mud consistency I'll never forget
Back in '09 I was working a basement job in Poughkeepsie. Guy named Hank, probably 70 years old, watched me mixing a bucket and just shook his head. Said 'you're making soup, not mud.' He reached in, added a handful of dry powder, stirred it twice, and handed me the trowel. That mix was perfect. No bubbles, no drag. Never had anyone explain it better in 5 minutes. Anyone else have someone like that who just walked up and fixed your whole day?

Ngl, that dry powder trick is almost like a cheat code once you get the feel for it. Too many people overthink the water ratio when a simple pinch of powder fixes the whole batch without starting over. Hank probably learned that from someone else fifty years ago and that's how real knowledge sticks around.
