Vent: That "special" drywall tape cost me a full day

Bought some fancy fiberglass mesh tape from a supply house out in Denver. Supposed to be stronger, no blisters. Spent $45 on a case. First job with it? Complete failure. Mud wouldn't bond right. Corners bubbled up everywhere. Had to rip out 12 sheets of 5/8. $200 in materials down the drain. Anybody else get burned by tape that promised too much?

$45 for a case of tape? That's insane.

Man that sucks bad. I feel your pain on this one. I tried that same fiberglass mesh tape about six months back on a bathroom remodel and it was a nightmare. The mud just sat on top of it like it was coated in wax or something. I ended up patching it with regular paper tape and it held fine. Sometimes the old stuff is just better for no good reason. Sorry you had to eat that cost, man.
