Compared a $30 Shopify theme against a custom build and the cheap one won
I spent $900 on a custom Shopify site for my small print shop back in March. Looked great but loaded slow and broke every time I added a new product. Last month I grabbed a $30 theme from ThemeForest on a whim, spent 4 hours tweaking it, and sales went up 12% in two weeks. Anyone else find that the expensive solution just adds more headaches?

Wait, you paid $900 for a site that broke whenever you added a product?

Right? "Broke every time I added a new product" - that's basically what happened to me too. I paid a guy $1,200 for a custom build for my t-shirt shop and the thing was a total nightmare. Every time I needed to add a new size or color option the whole site would glitch out... I finally gave up and used a $20 template and it's way faster and easier to update. Sometimes the fancy stuff just makes everything worse honestly.
