Customer told me my product photos looked like garbage. They were right.

I had a buyer message me last month saying my jewelry photos looked like they were taken in a basement. She was blunt but she was honest. I switched from using my phone on a white piece of paper to a cheap lightbox I found for $30 on Amazon. Sales went up about 15% the next week, nothing huge but it felt good. Anybody else had a random customer critique that actually helped?

$30 lightbox off Amazon? I bought the exact same kind and my earrings still looked like trash because I didn't fix the lighting inside it. Did you change your actual camera settings or just buy the box and call it a day?

@elliotr39 I had the same problem with my first lightbox. The key is actually getting a second light source from the top, not relying on the box itself. A simple $10 bendy desk lamp pointed down at the earrings made a huge difference for me. Also, I set my phone camera to manual mode and dropped the exposure by a full stop so the metal doesn't blow out. Have you tried playing with the white balance yet? That fixed the yellow tint on my silver pieces.
