Spent $800 on a dropshipping course that was just recycled YouTube videos
Back in 2018 I got into the whole Shopify craze and bought this course from some guy who claimed he made 6 figures a month. I was fresh out of dental hygiene school and thought I could build a side hustle easy. The course had 12 modules but it was basically just screenshots of his dashboard and links to free YouTube tutorials. I spent about 3 months trying to make it work, buying ads on Facebook for sample products like travel organizers and phone grips. After burning through $800 on the course and another $300 on ads I sold exactly 4 items and lost money on every single one. The part that still gets me is the "private Facebook group" was just 200 other confused people asking the same questions with zero answers. Has anyone else gotten reeled in by one of these guru courses and how did you finally figure out what actually works?

Oh man, that private Facebook group detail hit too close to home. Mine was basically a bunch of people posting their failed ad screenshots and asking "what am I doing wrong" while the guru ghosted us for weeks at a time. I swear those courses are just a tax on people who haven't learned to be cynical yet. At least you sold something, I ended up with a closet full of travel organizers that I still find in random drawers years later.

I read somewhere that 90% of those "gurus" never actually made money before selling the course.

At least your travel organizers served as a painful reminder, mine just gave me a useless PDF.
