The "free" Shopify theme I ignored for 6 months ended up saving my launch

I was dead set on buying a premium theme for my candle shop, figured you get what you pay for... then I actually sat down with Dawn and customized it. After 3 late nights tweaking the CSS on my own, I got a cleaner layout than the $200 one my friend bought. Anybody else find hidden gems in the free options they wrote off at first?

Yeah, and the thing is people assume free means junk but sometimes the devs put real work into those themes. I spent a whole weekend trying to get a premium theme to work right and it was bloated with features I never used. Dawn's pretty basic but that's exactly what I needed. I stripped out half the sections, moved some blocks around, and ended up with exactly what I pictured. Felt good not paying for all that extra stuff.

My Shopify store runs on a free theme too, ended up cleaner than anything I could buy.
