DHL just held my 40-lb package hostage over a missing zip code
Standing in the DHL depot in Newark last Tuesday, they refused to release my shipment because the label only showed 'Jersey City' without the 07302. I used their own website to make the label at midnight, so I assumed it auto-filled. Turned out I had autofill junk in my browser that dropped the zip, and their system let me pay for it anyway. Cost me $18 in parking and 2 hours of my day just to argue with a supervisor. I got it in the end, but has anyone else had their carrier hold packages over one small label error? I'm thinking of buying a cheap label printer with validation software now.
Their website let me pay for it though, that's on them too. You'd think they'd catch it at checkout or at least flag it before you drive across town.
Call me old school but 2 hours of arguing over a missing 5 digits seems like the real problem here. Sounds like the supervisor could've just looked up the street name and let you go.
