That time my basement flood turned into a 200 dollar plumbing lesson

Last month my sump pump died during a big rain and I got 3 inches of water in my basement. Called a plumber who quoted 600 bucks just to replace the pump. Took a chance and swapped it myself with a 200 unit from Home Depot on 99 Street. Anyone else had to learn plumbing the hard way after a flood?

Huh, I don't know man. A little water in the basement isn't the end of the world. I've had a damp floor before and just let it dry out with a fan. You might have been better off just waiting it out and saving the 200 bucks.

Sam, I have to disagree - that seepage can rot your floor joists over time and $200 is cheap insurance.
