Tried to fix a leaky faucet myself and flooded the kitchen

Honestly, I thought I could save $150 by swapping out the cartridge on my kitchen faucet last Saturday. Got it all apart, forgot to shut the water off under the sink, and sprayed water everywhere across my laminate floor. Took me an hour with a wet vac and a bunch of towels to clean up. Has anyone else had a simple diy job turn into a total disaster real quick?

What did you end up doing to get through it? For me, I just started taking small steps every day even when I didn't feel like it. Breaking things down into tiny chunks made it way less overwhelming and helped me actually move forward.
