Got called out by a cashier at Safeway on Whyte Ave

Was buying a cart of junk food at like 11pm and the cashier just looks at me and says 'rough night huh?' in this super flat voice. Made me actually think about how obvious my impulse buys were. Anyone else ever get read like that by a stranger?

Wait, isn't it possible they were just making small talk and you read way too much into it? I work late nights sometimes and grab snacks too, and cashiers are usually just trying to be friendly or pass the time. Their flat voice might have been tiredness, not judgment.

Nah, you can usually tell the difference between tired small talk and passive aggression, just pay attention to their tone.
