Paid $300 for a heated driveway install last winter

Thought it was a huge waste. But after that freeze in February? Best money I ever spent. No more shoveling that stupid long walkway. Has anyone else tried those electric mats?

Wait, you actually paid for that? I used to think heated driveways were the dumbest rich person thing ever... but after watching my neighbor's driveway stay completely clear during that freeze while I was out there breaking my back, I totally get it now.

The real hidden cost nobody talks about is how it changes your roof situation. All that snow has to go somewhere and with a heated driveway it just piles up at the edges or slides off in chunks. My buddy had to replace his gutters twice because the ice damn moved from his driveway to his roof line.
