I used to think fishing wires through old plaster walls was the worst part of the job.

Then I had a day last month in a 1920s house in Tacoma where the homeowner wanted all new outlets. I was ready for a fight, but I found this old, flexible fiberglass rod in the back of my van (a Klein one, actually). It went through the walls like butter, even around the old fire blocks. I got the whole first floor done before lunch. Anyone have a favorite tool for that kind of job that isn't the usual fish tape?

Found the right tool and the job just melts away... makes me wonder how many other daily headaches are just a matter of finding that one simple thing.

Too bad my life doesn't come with a user manual.
