Just read a report from the NFPA about home generator hookups

It said about 85% of portable generator related carbon monoxide deaths happen after storms when people use them wrong. I found it in their safety data sheet online. They keep saying to put it at least 20 feet from the house, but how many homeowners actually measure that? Has anyone had to explain this to a customer who didn't want to listen?

Actual data sheet" reminds me of a guy who argued with me about his extension cord gauge. You ever see a 16-gauge cord melt into an outlet?

Ever try showing them the actual data sheet?

Wait, a 16 gauge cord is for like small stuff, 14 or 12 is what you want for serious power. The data sheet would actually list the amp rating and temperature limit though, so showing them that is usually the right call.
