My wake-up call at the Johnson County job site

I used to think the expensive cable management trays were a waste of money. But last month at the Johnson County school renovation, I saw a helper trip over a loose bundle and pull down three junction boxes. The head electrician told me, 'That $200 tray would have saved us $2,000 in repairs.' Now I use troughs on every commercial job. Has anyone else had a close call that made you spend more upfront?

I had a helper trip over a loose cord once on a small remodel and it just knocked over a ladder, nobody got hurt. I've been doing this for 12 years and I still use zip ties and tape, not trays. Unless you're running like 50 cables in a drop ceiling, spending $200 on a tray seems overkill to me. Maybe your helper just needs to watch where he's stepping instead lol.
