Old foreman told me to always pigtail my neutrals

Ignored it for 5 years until I pulled a switch box where the neutral screw was smoking. Now I never skip it. Any of you guys had a late lesson like that?

Yeah did you ever just have that one job that made you a believer? I had a service call where an entire kitchen was flickering and half dead. Found a bundle of neutrals under a wire nut that looked fine from the outside but the copper was black tar inside. Took me three hours to sort out that mess. Now I pigtail everything in boxes with more than two cables, and I always give the wirenut a good tug after I tighten it. It just saves you from the headache of tracing a bad neutral later.

Oh man, found a melted neutral in a jbox last week. Same nightmare.
