A guy at the Milwaukee tool counter tried to tell me I needed a $200 diagnostic module for a simple power supply fault.
He insisted the old 'poke and look' method was dead and that you couldn't fix a modern 24V supply without the proprietary software. I fixed it in his parking lot with a $15 multimeter by finding a single blown 5 amp fuse he said didn't exist. When's the last time a sales pitch actually cost you time instead of saving it?

That $200 diagnostic module story reminds me of the time a Best Buy guy told me my three year old printer was "end of life" and I just needed to clean the printhead with a $5 kit from Amazon. The fix took ten minutes. Makes you wonder how many perfectly good devices end up in landfills because someone got a useless sales pitch.

It's like that everywhere now... they want to sell you a whole new system when the fix is usually something basic. Makes you wonder how much gets thrown out just because people are told they can't fix it themselves.

Remember that story about the guy who fixed his washing machine with a single belt from a hardware store? The repair quote was over $500. Saw a video last week where a laptop just needed new thermal paste, but the shop said the whole motherboard was fried. It's crazy how often the fix is cheap and simple, but they push for a full replacement. Makes you lose trust in the whole system.
