Got a 2015 MacBook Pro with the dreaded backlight issue, thought it was toast.

The screen was completely dark but you could see a faint image with a flashlight. I was about to order a whole new display assembly, which is pricey. On a whim, I watched a video from a shop in Chicago and they said to check the two tiny fuses on the display cable board. Sure enough, one was blown! I bridged it with a tiny bit of solder and the screen lit right up. Has anyone else fixed one this way, or did I just get lucky?

Wait, you actually bridged a fuse with solder? That sounds like a temporary fix at best, like putting a band-aid on a burst pipe. Aren't you worried it could cause more problems down the line, like frying something else since the fuse won't blow again? I'd be checking that screen every five minutes waiting for it to smoke.

What if the real fuse was your fear?

Bet you just saved that board from the landfill though.
