Had a laptop board short out on me mid-repair in a coffee shop, had to MacGyver a fix with a paperclip and some kapton tape.

Yeah, @the_wesley gets it. I read a piece once that called that kind of fix "field expedient repair," which is just a fancy way of saying you use what you have.
