Had a laptop board short out on me mid-repair in a coffee shop, had to MacGyver a fix with a paperclip and some kapton tape.

Used to think you needed all the right tools, but that's some real genius right there.

That's a nice thought and all, but having the wrong tool can mess things up pretty bad too. I've seen people strip bolts or crack plastic trying to force a butter knife or something where a proper pry tool would've worked clean. Maybe it's just me but there's a fine line between being clever and making a bigger problem for later. @miles277 probably has a good story about that "field expedient" idea going sideways too.

Yeah, @the_wesley gets it. I read a piece once that called that kind of fix "field expedient repair," which is just a fancy way of saying you use what you have.
