Pro tip: I chose a $15 hot air station over a new soldering iron for a tricky PS4 HDMI port job
The extra control for the surrounding plastic was perfect, and the whole repair took about 20 minutes. Anyone have a go-to flux they use for these console board repairs?

Seriously, a hot air station for one port? That seems like overkill. My old iron handles those just fine.

Honestly my shaky hands turn a simple port job into a blob of solder disaster. The hot air station is my safety net against my own clumsiness. Sure, a good iron can do it, but I need all the help I can get. Ever had a repair go sideways because of a simple slip?

Man, I had a buddy who tried to do a PS4 port with just a soldering iron and ended up melting the plastic connector housing! He had to buy a whole new port and spent twice as long cleaning up the mess. Hot air station saved him a ton of headache after that.
