Vent: I keep seeing techs use the wrong flux on SMD pads
I was fixing a PS5 HDMI port last week and the guy before me used plumbing flux, which left a nasty residue that shorted two tiny caps. On one side, people say any flux works in a pinch, but I think using the wrong type, like rosin-core for plumbing, can kill a board fast. I've seen three boards this month alone with corrosion from cheap flux. What's your go-to flux for console work, and have you seen this mess too?

Heard plumbing flux can eat right through the traces.

Yeah, plumbing flux is nasty stuff, reminds me of a time it ruined a perfectly good soldering iron tip.
