Finally fixed a weird door lock fault on a 1980s Dover that had me stuck for two days

Three years ago when I started, my boss in St. Louis told me I'd learn more from the old units than the new ones, and last week a sticky relay on a Dover MPD proved him right. I traced it back to a worn cam follower on the door operator that was just out of sync enough to cause an intermittent fault. What's the weirdest 'vintage' part failure you've had to diagnose recently?

Oh man, that sounds like a real puzzle. My weird one lately was a 90s Otis where the floor leveling was off by a hair, but only when it was raining. Took me forever to link it to a tiny crack in the car top letting moisture warp a sensor bracket. Felt like a detective for a week, and then a bit of an idiot when I finally saw it.

That moisture warping the bracket is such a sneaky fault.
