I keep seeing guys skip the final torque check on the governor rope clamp. That's a 20 second job that can stop a big problem.

Three years ago I skipped that final torque check on a governor rope clamp and the rope slipped just enough during a test run that the whole assembly came loose. Took me two full afternoons to trace the issue and fix it, and I still have a scar on my knuckle from the wrench that slipped off a bolt. So yeah, I've personally learned that 20 seconds can save a whole weekend of headache. But then again, I also once put a lockwasher on backwards and spent an hour trying to figure out why nothing would tighten, so maybe I'm just not the sharpest tool in the shed.

Disagree on that being a big deal most of the time. If the initial torque was right and the lockwire is good, it's usually fine. Seen plenty of units run for years without that final check.

Yeah exactly, it's one of those things that gets blown out of proportion. A proper lockwire job does most of the work keeping things tight. As long as the initial install was done right, chasing that final torque on every single fastener is often just ticking a box.
