My apprentice hit the emergency stop while I was wedged in the cab last Tuesday
I was halfway out the top of a 1979 Otis in a downtown Phoenix office building trying to adjust the limit switch, and my new guy thought he saw a spider and slammed the red button. Took the building manager 20 minutes and a crowbar to get me out - has anyone else had a helper do something this dumb?

Honestly, that's next-level clueless. Ngl, I once had a helper nearly drop a wrench down an open shaft because he was too busy recording for TikTok.

Read an article a while back about how elevator techs are basically the third most likely to get crushed on the job, right after loggers and roofers. Your apprentice is doing his best to bump that ranking up single-handedly. 20 minutes wedged in a cab in Phoenix heat sounds like pure nightmare fuel. At least the spider probably died of embarrassment after causing all that chaos.
