Pro tip: never let a building manager rush your door zone adjustment

Had one in Phoenix insist I 'just make it work' while people were waiting, which led to a callback for a misaligned sill the next day. Anyone else get pressured to cut corners on safety checks?

Oh perfect, the classic "hurry up" from someone who won't be the one getting sued. I love how their rush becomes your problem when the inspector shows up. That callback is just the universe charging a stupid tax, and the manager's the one who should pay it. Never let someone else's bad planning make you skip the steps that keep people safe.

But sometimes the steps are just red tape, not safety stuff. I've seen people hide behind "safety" to go slow on simple jobs. Not every shortcut is a lawsuit waiting to happen.

Honestly, the bigger issue here is what skipping those steps does to your crew's headspace. When one person cuts corners, it puts pressure on everyone else to do the same or look like they're slowing things down. That guilt or resentment festers, and before long you've got a team that doesn't trust each other or the management. Red tape or not, breaking the routine just to save an hour can wreck morale for weeks.
