Working on the old Otis in the Portland library made me switch how I check door locks

I was sure the worn rollers were the main issue, but after the door kept bouncing, I found the lock cam was off by almost a quarter inch. Now I always check that alignment first with a feeler gauge before I even look at the rollers. Anyone else run into this on those older units?

Wait a quarter inch is wild lol. That would drive me nuts trying to find it. Good call on the feeler gauge first.

Yeah "drive me nuts" is right. I'd be sliding that gauge back and forth for an hour, second guessing every little bump.
