I was at a protest in Austin when my friend's phone got grabbed by a cop.

They just took it right out of his hand to check his messages. He didn't have his stuff locked down at all. How many people still think a simple passcode is enough?

Did you see that article about cops using those little boxes to unlock phones? I read they can bypass a basic passcode in like a minute flat. You gotta use a long password or biometrics, something they can't just plug into a machine.

Switched to a long alphanumeric password after a similar scare. My phone now asks for it if I move it wrong, which is annoying but effective. That extra step seems to be the actual barrier they can't easily get past.
