My encrypted group chat hit 200 members and I got a weird feeling
We started it just for our local union to talk shop, but now it's full of people from three different countries I've never met. The app shows a little lock icon when you post, but seeing that number made me wonder who's really reading it all. Does anyone else get nervous when their private space gets bigger than they planned?

Feels like putting a bike lock on a park bench and calling it secure. That little lock icon is just for show when you've got a whole crowd of strangers hanging around. Started with your work buddies, now it's got some guy from Finland posting memes at 3am. Makes you wonder if the union gossip is being read by your boss's boss in another time zone.

Switched to a private Signal group with just my team. That lock icon actually means something when you control who gets in.

Wait, nobody's talking about how a private group makes it easier for someone to take a screenshot of your message and pass it around outside the group. That digital lock isn't stopping screenshots on anybody's phone. How do you even enforce privacy when it's that easy to break?
