Tbh, my local library's tech talk went from empty seats to a full room in three months

Honestly, back in April, maybe five people showed up for their talk on using Signal and basic encryption. Last week, over forty people were there, asking really good questions. The change happened after the city council tried to pass that new public Wi-Fi monitoring proposal. Ngl, seeing a real threat made people want to learn. Has anyone else seen a local group suddenly get serious about privacy tools?

Notice the same thing with my neighbors suddenly caring about home security cameras after a few porch thefts.

Yeah, my friend's gardening club went from just talking about compost to a full on encrypted chat group overnight. Someone posted a weird, super detailed photo of her prize roses from a drone last month, and it freaked everyone out. Now they won't plan the plant swap without using Signal, and a few people even bought those little webcam covers. It's wild how fast that switch flips when something feels close to home.
