Am I the only one who thinks the 'no extraction' trend is a mistake?

I was doing a facial in my studio in Portland last month, and a regular came in with a deep, painful cyst. The protocol from a big training I took said to just use a calming mask and leave it alone. I did that, but she came back two weeks later and it was WAY worse, almost infected. I decided to gently extract it with a sterile lancet, and it healed perfectly in four days. Has anyone else had a client get worse from following the 'hands-off' rule?

That "hands-off" rule can really backfire with deep cysts... they just fester under the skin. Sometimes a careful, sterile extraction is the kindest thing you can do for a client's skin and comfort. Following a rigid protocol over common sense just doesn't work for every single case.

Wait, you're actually extracting cysts on clients?

Hold up, are we talking about actual medical cysts here? Those need a doctor, not an esthetician. A "festering" cyst sounds like a major infection waiting to happen if you poke it wrong.
