I used to think steamers were just for extractions until a client in Tampa said something

She told me 'my skin feels way more hydrated when you steam before the mask, not after' during a facial last month. I tried switching the order on my next 10 clients and the feedback on hydration was way better. Anyone else find a simple step change that made a big difference?

Tampa is the last place I'd expect a skincare tip to come from, honestly. The humidity there is so bad I figured everyone just gave up on extra hydration. Doing steam before the mask seems like it would just dry people out before you even start. I'm shocked it worked for ten clients in a row, that's a pretty solid test run. I might have to try it myself and see what happens.

Huh, that's interesting. I've always done steam after the mask to lock everything in. For my clients, steaming first can sometimes make their skin feel a bit tight or sensitive before I even get to the hydrating products. Maybe it depends on skin type.

Oh man, I actually read a little study about this somewhere... something about the order of steam and masks mattering a lot for different skin barriers. Maybe @elliot_miller22 has a point about the humidity thing, since drier climates usually need different steps than wet ones. I guess it really comes down to trial and error for each person's skin.
