Rant: The whole booking app thing has taken the personal touch out of everything...
I miss the days when clients would call the spa directly to book... we'd chat for a minute, I'd remember their voice, ask about their skin since last time. Now it's all through these apps where they just click a time slot, no conversation at all. Half the time they show up and I have no idea what they need because the notes are bare bones or wrong. It feels like I'm just a service robot, not someone who cares about their skin journey. I had a regular last week who booked through the app for a 'basic facial' but really needed extractions, and the system didn't flag it. We spent the first ten minutes figuring that out... it's frustrating. The old way built a connection, this new way just feels cold and efficient. I get that apps are convenient, but I worry we're losing what makes this job special.

Last week's basic facial mess, common with these impersonal app bookings?

Tbh my local news did a segment where 40% of app-booked facials had similar complaints.

What if the real problem is the app's rating system? They push new providers to the top with fake five star reviews, so you're basically gambling on someone with no real track record.
