Switched my main cleanser for a full month and my client's redness dropped by half

I had a regular client with persistent redness who wasn't getting better with my usual gentle gel wash. After reading a study on ceramide-based products, I swapped her to a cream cleanser with ceramides for four weeks. Has anyone else seen a big change just from switching up the first step in a routine?

Yeah, my friend had a similar thing happen with her sister... she kept using a foaming wash that was just stripping her skin raw. Switched to a super simple milky one and it was like night and day after a few weeks. Makes you realize how harsh that first step can be, right? Glad it worked for your client too, and @claire64, seems like we're all seeing this pattern.

That point from @tessa_kelly about the foaming wash stripping skin raw is so true. I see it all the time. People just grab whatever cleanser is popular without thinking. They don't get that first step sets the whole tone. A harsh one can wreck your skin barrier before you even start. Switching to something gentle and repairing, like your ceramide cream, makes total sense. It's fixing the problem instead of making it worse.
