Chat with an old farrier in Kentucky changed my mind on hoof boots

Ran into a guy at a clinic near Lexington who said he uses them for 90% of his foundered horses instead of shoeing. I always figured boots were a crutch, but he showed me records from 60 horses over 2 years. Has anyone else tried making boots a permanent part of their rotation?

Those 60 horse records are exactly what would make me pay attention, most people just go on feel. It's pretty convincing when a guy has that much data over two years showing it works.

Wait wait wait, sixty horses is a lot. I mean its not just a little bump, thats a whole different engine practically. Like that's not just "placebo effect" or "butt dyno" stuff, thats measurable.

You mean @the_ruby is actually right about something? Kidding, kidding. But yeah, sixty horses is like strapping a angry raccoon to your hood and telling it to push harder. That's the difference between getting passed by minivans and being the one doing the passing. Bigger difference than my ex's mood swings, and that's saying something.
