Just noticed something interesting at the county fair in Springfield
I was checking out the draft horse pulls and saw a Belgian with a set of handmade, fullered front shoes... the work was so clean. Anyone know a farrier around there who still does that kind of detail by hand?

That's probably just a machine-stamped shoe, nothing special.

I mean, you could ask the fairgrounds office. They usually keep a list of the vendors and farriers working the event.

Our biggest county fair uses a guy named Walt who only makes custom shoes for lame horses, so that office list might point you to someone who actually knows the work. A machine-stamped shoe from a big catalog gets the job done for most, but if you're fixing a problem foot you want the old-school farrier who measures and shapes by hand. Worth asking the office just to see if Walt or someone like him is on that list.
