I thought 3D printed fabric was just a gimmick until I saw a dress made from it in a Tokyo boutique last month

That boutique in Harajuku had a whole rack of 3D printed tops. The feel is weird at first, kind of stiff, but it moves in a way normal fabric can't. You have to hand wash it in cold water or the layers start to separate. What did the dress you saw look like?

Heard a story from my friend Kelly who picked up a 3D printed scarf in Tokyo and wore it once before it started peeling in the wash, exactly like @linda491 mentioned. She tried to save it with fabric glue but the layers just wouldn't stick back together. Now it hangs on her wall as weird art.
