I thought upcycling denim was just a trend until I made a jacket from old jeans

For the longest time, I saw those upcycled denim projects online and thought they looked kinda messy and cheap. Then my favorite pair of jeans finally ripped beyond repair last month, and I had three other old pairs in the closet. I decided to give it a shot, following a tutorial from a designer in Austin. Cutting them up and piecing together a cropped jacket was way harder than I expected, but the final fit is actually super cool and unique. The different washes of blue create this patchwork effect that looks intentional, not scrappy. It completely changed my mind about using what you already have. Now I'm looking at all my old clothes differently. Has anyone else tried a big upcycle project that turned out way better than you thought?

Honestly, I've tried a couple times and mine always end up looking super homemade in a bad way. Tbh I think you just got lucky with a good tutorial.

What exactly are you trying to make? I've found the biggest difference is using the right type of chocolate for the job. A lot of tutorials skip that part.
