My entire zipper tape gave out on my favorite jacket during a walk in the rain last Tuesday

It was a vintage Levi's trucker I've had for 8 years, and the metal teeth just started popping off one by one. Has anyone successfully replaced a full-length zipper on a denim jacket, or is it a lost cause?

Totally fixable, but it's a job for a good tailor. I had the same thing happen on my old denim jacket. They put in a new heavy-duty zipper and it's been perfect for years now.

Ugh, that's the worst! A full zipper swap on denim is a big job though. Did the tailor have to take the whole jacket apart to do it, like remove the collar and front facings? I'm wondering how much original stitching they had to cut.

Man, that's such a bummer when a favorite piece gives out. A good tailor can definitely swap that whole zipper out for you. It's worth saving a jacket with that much history.
