My silk sample tore right before a big client meeting in Chicago

I was setting up my presentation and the fabric ripped at the seam, so I quickly pinned it with a brooch from my bag and pitched it as 'wearable art with visible mending'. What's your best last-minute design save?

Wearable art with visible mending" is such a smart reframe... I once spilled coffee on a mood board and called the stains a "patina of process"... clients love that kind of story sometimes.

Isn't it funny how a story changes everything? I read an article about a designer who uses bright red thread for all her mends and calls them "honesty lines," which totally fits what you're saying, @perry.nancy. That "patina of process" idea makes a flaw feel intentional and special, like proof the piece has a real life. It turns a fix into a feature you want to show off.

So now we're selling coffee stains as art?
