Switched from cheap polyester lining to Bemberg cupro for a jacket and the difference in breathability and drape is INSANE.

After my first sample made me sweat like crazy, I spent the extra $8 per yard on the Bemberg for the final piece and it feels like a completely different, high-end garment.

That "completely different, high-end garment" feeling is the whole point. You can't fake that with cheap materials. It's why some stuff just feels good and lasts. That extra $8 is buying the actual experience of wearing it, not just the look. More people should understand that.

My old raincoat had that cheap plastic lining and I'd get clammy just walking to the bus. Upgraded to a thrifted Barbour with a proper lining and it was a total game changer.

Is it really that much better though? I mean I've used cupro before and while it feels nice at first it wrinkles like crazy and needs special care. I've had cheap poly linings hold up fine for years without any issues, just gotta let the garment breathe a bit. Maybe the difference is more noticeable for jackets you wear tight against the skin vs something you layer over a shirt.
