Warning about that new pressure-treated pine from the big box stores
I put up a 50-foot run of it for a client in Springfield about 8 months ago. It looked fine going in, but I drove past the job last week and the bottom rails are already warping and pulling away from the posts. The wood feels soft, like it never fully took the treatment. My supplier said they changed to a faster drying process to meet demand. Anyone else seeing this with recent batches?

Check if they're using the new copper azole treatment instead of the old stuff.

My buddy in Dayton used that stuff for a small deck last spring. The 4x4 posts started to split and bow before the summer was even over. Honestly, it just seems like the new treatment isn't soaking in deep enough to last.

Yeah, I don't know. People love to blame the lumber but half the time they skip proper fasteners or don't let it acclimate. A little warping on a 50-foot run doesn't sound like a crisis to me.
