A homeowner in Denver asked me to leave a 'ghost' in her new hardwood floor
I was finishing up a 1,200 square foot oak install last month when the lady of the house came down to check. She pointed to a small, dark knot in a board and said, 'Can you make sure that stays? I want a little ghost in the floor, something with character.' I've had people ask me to cut out every single flaw before, but never to keep one on purpose. It happened right in the main hallway. She explained that her old house had a floor with marks from her kids' toys and she missed that lived-in feel. Has anyone else had a client request something like this, where a 'flaw' becomes a feature?

Huh, that's actually pretty cool. Most folks want everything perfect, so it's neat she sees the charm in a little flaw.

Used to think flaws were dealbreakers but @the_tyler and this thread proved me wrong.
